8 months

I have no idea what the girls weight right now but they are filling out 9 month sizes and they're only 8 months. Ruby is doing a lot of push ups on her tip toes as she's trying to crawl otherwise she just rolls everywhere she wants to go. Layla gets up on her knees but has yet to make any forward movements and she mostly scoots backwards and rolls around the room.
I had my first major accident with Ruby a couple weeks ago when I was changing her diaper and she rolled herself off the table. I turned around in time to catch her right before she hit the floor but she had hit the side of her head on the diaper pail on the way down. She had a little bruise there but it lasted less than a week. I was shaken up but I made a conscious effort to remain calm so that she could be calmed down and within 30 seconds of crying I was able to cheer her up and get some giggles out of her. Either on the same day or a day later the girls were sitting in their high chairs chewing on dry pancakes when I heard one of them chocking. I ran right over and it was Layla; I snatched her right up out of her chair and gave her the heimlich and out popped a chunk of pancake. The funny thing was she wasn't deterred at all and she immediately popped the remaining pancake into her mouth.
I love sitting with them and getting them to laugh and giggle which is pretty easy to do. I have been giving the girls turns in their Johnny Jump Up recently and they absolutely love it. I quite using it for a couple months in favor of them attempting to crawl but they get bored so it helps to mix it up. They can jump for a half hour straight before they want out.
At least once a day I get down on the floor to play but it can sometimes feel like I'm being attacked because they're both drawn to my hair. The moment I lay down they both come towards me and reach their cute little slobbery hands into my hair, and they're surprisingly strong and persistent. Once I get one of them out of my hair the other one is in it and then so on and so forth.
Both girls have two bottom teeth and they're currently in the process of cutting the top two and Ruby's handling it much better than last time. Lately I have been making the girls yams, carrots, peas, mangoes, pears and apples. To give the foods more calories and fat I add in whole fat kefir, or yogurt or unsalted butter. Its actually time that I introduce meat so I'll probably add in some chicken tomorrow. They eat 1/2 cup each and they eat very quickly so meal time is going much smoother than when I first attempted solids. Other than that they're drinking only 5 bottles a day, 2 of 9 oz and 3 of 6 oz.
Nap times are very short these days and somewhat unpredictable whereas bedtime is almost exactly 8:00 every night and they sleep until about 6:30 in the morning.
I have taken on the daunting task of babysitting 6 yr old twin boys 4 days every other week. It has been a rough start but I'm beginning to get the hang of it.
I started a new diet which is more of a lifestyle than a diet. Its based on the recommendations in the book Nourishing Traditions. Since I began I lost an inch on my waist and thighs and I have lots more energy and no more gas! I purged my cupboards of all our prepared foods and I'm stocking the shelves with wholesome ingredients.
Larry has been working steadily as a subcontractor and during his recent free time he has landscaped our backyard.
