2 month Check up

The babies are actually 3 months and 4 days old but this was what was supposed to be the 2 month check up. Both babies are doing great but Ruby is coming up short in the weight department.
Larry and I became concerned about Ruby recently when she started looking like she had lost some weight. I started supplementing with formula immediately and she immediately began to fill out again. I suspect it has to do with the cold they caught a couple weeks ago. As soon as they got sick I read up on what to do for them and basically I was supposed to keep them well hydrated by breastfeeding often. I immediately put them on a 2 hour around-the-clock feeding schedule and the girls constantly had wet and or poopy diapers. Some of the poops looked like they contained mucous and looked like diarrhea (which contributed to the weight loss). Unfortunately I failed to keep myself well hydrated and fed during this time and my breastmilk supply suffered but I didn't realize it until Ruby lost the weight. I felt like a failure when this happened but Larry was there to support me and remind me that I can't and won't be the perfect mom and that I was doing a great job. I beat myself up for several hours and then got over it.
The dr. told me to supplement 2 oz of formula for Ruby after each feeding and come back in two weeks to have the girls weighed again. The goal is that they double their birth weights by six months which I think is definitely doable. Ruby will have to be 10lbs 14oz and Layla will need to be 11lbs 5oz.
At the end of the appointment both girls received several immunizations so they're not in the best spirits this evening.

Duty calls.
