Sorry for the delay in posts but I have had my hands full.  Layla and Ruby arrived at 4:45 and 4:46 on October 24th at 36 weeks 1 day gestations.  I was induced on October 23rd some time in the middle of the day because I had gestational hypertension and had gained 7 pounds of water weight in two days.  Layla was face up so we spent most of the evening contracting on my left or right to get her to turn over.  Pitocin was administered but caused me to contract non stop for 15 minute so that was turned off.  I don't remember what time of day I was given the epidural but it definitely helped a lot as I was experiencing back labor due to Layla's position.  I began pushing some time in the middle of the night once I was fully dilated.  I pushed for about 5 hours or so and Layla's head would only go down just to pop back up after the pushing stopped.  My contractions were only in the upper right portion of my uterus so they weren't enough to do the job.  My body couldn't go any longer so around 3:30 am Larry told the Dr. that we were ready for a c-section.  After we made our decision the dr. told us that she and my dr. were just about to recommend a section since I hadn't made progress for the last hour.  Thankfully the girls were doing great, and I wasn't in distress either so they didn't have to rush me to surgery.  I was sobbing uncontrollably due to my exhaustion and frustration that I couldn't deliver without the section.  The anesthesiologist arrived as I was about to be pushed into the O.R. and he injected me with tons of drugs.  They made my body shake uncontrollably and eventually gave me the worst cotton mouth I had ever experienced.  The O.R. was unbelievably white and bright; there was some rock music playing in the background and lots of people running around.  I couldn't feel any pain but I could feel pressure when someone touched my abdomen.  I could feel as the dr. cut into the three layers of my flesh leading to the babies.  I could feel Layla being lifted out and almost immediately crying.  The relief to the pressure and weight in my abdomen was amazing.  Right after that they lifted Ruby out but she wasn't responding right away.  Most of her body was purple so they rubbed her and talked her into waking up and eventually she did.  The anesthesiologist encouraged Larry to take pics but Larry was overwhelmed with joy and was more interested in watching his girls as they took their first breaths.  The anesthesiologist then took the camera from Larry and ran around taking really great pics of the event.  My shaking had gotten worse and then came the uncontrollable itchiness all over my body.  The girls were 5lbs 11oz and 5lbs 6oz and healthy so they never had to go to the NICU, they were first thrust into Larry's arms and then eventually mine when I was in the recovery room.  I was hooked up to lots of machines to monitor my oxygen, bp, temp, and I was given oral pain killers as well.  Most of my body was dead so I needed lots of help holding the girls.  Eventually I was wheeled back to my room and Larry called the family (who had been waiting all night) to come into the room and meet the little ladies.  I was too tired and drugged up to entertain guest so I just kept my eyes closed and let larry handle the family.  Ruby has the hick-ups so I'll have to post more another day when I have a free moment.
